Schools ♦ Dental Public Health staff provide preventive dental services once a year in many Island schools ♦ Parent’s/guardian’s consent is required Dental Public Health Clinics ♦ For more information, call 368-4918 in Charlottetown, or 888-8145 in Summerside A private dentist’s office ♦ For more information, call your family dentist or any dentist on PEI

Pediatric Dental Specialist Program

How much will it cost me? ƒ Preventive dental services provided in schools or dental public health clinics are free ƒ To receive basic dental treatment services from a dentist, you must: 1. Register your child with a dentist (either a private dentist or a dentist working in a Dental Public Health Clinic) - Registration fee is $15 per child or a maximum of $35 per family 2. Pay 20% of the cost of your child’s treatment, but if your family income is less than $30,000 per year, you can apply to be exempt. To apply for exemption call 1(866) 368-5460 or 368-5460

Whom does the program cover? Children from uninsured families who need inhospital treatment by a specialist because of a medical or a behavioral problem

Whom does the program cover? ƒ Children who are born with a cleft lip and/or palate

Whom does the program cover? Children aged 3 – 17 years, inclusive

What service is covered? In-hospital treatment by a pediatric specialist Where can my child receive the services? Hospital OR How much will it cost me? The program is free to parents of children who qualify

What services are covered?

What services are covered? ƒ Preventive and interceptive orthodontic treatment

1) Surgical repair of cleft lip and/or palate

Where can my child receive the services? ƒ Sherwood Dental Clinic, 2nd Floor, 152 St. Peter’s Road, Charlottetown (Four Neighborhoods Clinic) call 368-4920

1) IWK Hospital, Halifax

How much will it cost me? ƒ Parents/guardians pay the laboratory fees for the appliances provided

2) Orthodontic treatment Where can my child receive the services? 2) Any orthodontist’s office on the Island How much will it cost me? ƒ Treatment at the IWK Hospital is free ƒ Parents/guardians pay no more than 50% of treatment provided by the orthodontist Call 368-4920
