durable After seven years arduous use by a three car family with virtually no maintenance, this driveway still looks immaculate. 18 tonne delivery trucks have manoeuvred on the driveway to deliver materials to a project at the rear of this property without leaving a mark on the driveway.

tasteful So many modern surfaces can look garish and unsympathetic to their surroundings. The DriveDash system is a concept that utilises natural materials quarried entirely in the UK. It has the ability to blend in seamlessly with any age of property, modern or traditional.

investment ‘Don’t move – improve’ is an expression we often hear. Installing DriveDash will greatly increase the value of your property without needless expense.

domestic case study This is a classic example of a typical suburban driveway of which we see thousands in the U.K. The original tarmac driveway to this 1970’s detached property was only wide enough for one vehicle. As the family car useage increased the drive was widened using concrete paving slabs with an extremely ugly concrete strip in between the two surfaces. Over the years the tarmac had become stained and some of the slabs had cracked. The driveway remained functional, but did nothing to enhance the property or provide a welcoming ambiance for visitors. After careful consideration of all the paving options available, the householder chose DriveDash as a perfect solution to their problem. Their drivedash installer highlighted the benefits of the DriveDash system. ‘Why remove a structurally sound surface and pay expensive landfill charges, when DriveDash can be laid over the existing surface.’

The contractor suggested laying new edgings to retain the DriveDash and help define the perimeter of the paving. Some slight readjustments were made to the shape of the driveway to create a more architectural look which helped enhance the overall appearance.

After thoroughly sweeping the surface of the old driveway the rejuvenation process was ready to begin. The installer carefully masked off any adjacent surfaces that needed protecting from staining. The primer was then applied to the driveway to seal the existing surface and provide a key prior to the application of the binder.

The binder coat is then spread over the surface of the primer in an even layer. After a few square metres has been covered the 6mm double washed aggregate is broadcast onto the binder and raked perfectly level, leaving only a thin coating of chippings visible on the surface. The installer is then able to walk on the freshly laid surface to spread more binder and chippings over the other prepared surfaces. The gravel surface is then rolled with a non vibrating roller to bed the chippings into the binder.

Customer comments.

‘We love our new driveway and how big it looks compared to before. The surface is non slip and very good for security as you can hear people walking on it.’

domestic case study One of our most frequently asked questions is ‘In what sort of condition does a drive have to be able to be DriveDashed? ’ Well as you can see from the picture, this concrete driveway was in a poor state, at least visually. However it was still able to fulfil the criteria for laying DriveDash, which are:A. The driveway was reasonably level with no major depressions. B. The cracking of the concrete had been caused by old settlement which had now stabilised, and no movement of the concrete occurred when vehicles drove over the surface.

In other words the drive was structurally sound but aesthetically poor. A perfect situation for

commercial case study hi tech Readyfix is a fast growing family business with a busy trade counter operating from a modern town centre property with extensive customer car parking and drive through facilities. Their existing tarmac surface was well worn and whilst not poor enough to need replacing, it did present an image problem for their business. After deciding to install DriveDash at a fraction of the cost of tarmac, the owners comments were ‘A quality surface at an affordable price, it stands up to heavy use well. We also access storage with a fork lift across the DriveDash without any damage to the surface whatsoever. We would recommend it to anybody looking to facelift their forecourt.’

leisure Wetherby Golf Club in West Yorkshire are enjoying the benefits of DriveDash which they installed themselves. They were faced with a safety problem when a heavily used tarmac path became slippy, especially during the winter months. As the pictures show the path is fairly steep, but it is now completely safe for members, making their way from the clubhouse to the 1st tee. The head greenkeeper at Wetherby, David Hannam, commented ‘We are very pleased with the look and performance of the DriveDash in what is a very demanding situation.’
