July 24, 2014 Dear Community Member: The Fountain Creek Watershed District, along with numerous partners, is hosting the first large-scale “Creek Week”, September 27 through October 5, 2014 as a means of encouraging people to collect litter and make our communities cleaner and safer for all, from Palmer Lake to Pueblo and Woodland Park to Fountain. Litter is not only unsightly, but it leads to blight and ultimately ends up clogging and polluting our waterways. This affects property values, wildlife habitat, water quality and recreation opportunities. Interested parties are invited to form “Creek Crews” and lead a litter collection event during “Creek Week.” Details on registration can be found at: www.fountain-crk.org If we each do our part, we can make a huge difference. We are asking for your help. Sponsorship funds are needed for group recruitment, event promotion and advertising, to purchase supplies, and to educate residents in the watershed about litter prevention.
