Products iku®windows are self-cleaning window and facade systems which can be centrally controlled and are patented worldwide. A standard water supply connected with an adding device for cleaning detergent is sprayed onto the glass surface, the wiper which is integrated in the external profiles moves up and down the building and cleans the glass.

iku®windows – the intelligent facade Unitized system The integrated self cleaning mechanism is ideal for high-rise buildings. The elements are prefabricated in the factory, which is a guarantee for precise manufacturing and quick installation on site.

Structural Glazing system With integrated self cleaning mechanism, total flat surface. There is no need for cradles – maintenance work is possible from inside.

Cover cap system The integrated self cleaning mechanism is ideal for new buildings as well as for refurbishment.

Spider system Integrated self cleaning mechanism, in spider system.

iku®windows – Maintenance & Evacuation

Maintenance Unit With the flexible iku®windows facade maintenance technology even large and heavy glass panes, which cannot be carried in an elevator inside the building, can be changed from inside and transported easily to any place in the façade Suitable for iku®windows Unitized façade and Structural Glazing system. Compared with other conventional cradles or cranes, the units runs in the system profiles, which ensures a safe transport

Evacuation Unit A specially developed hamper can also be used for the transport of up to eight persons depending on its size. Similar to emergency exits in aircrafts, so called “evacuation points” can be set up at various areas in the façade.

This enables a safe escape for endangered people.

iku®windows - the intelligent window

System Automatic - the Hightech Version Operates by keyboard, remote control or Building Management Systems. Automatic functions: opening/closing, ventilation, shading, self cleaning

System ECO - the economical version Integrating a manual self cleaning mechanism. The primed design as well as the excellent performance in terms of insulation and construction are valid as for the Automatic System.

iku®windows sliding system The sliding system of iku®windows is very flexible, and allows not only the option of 2 panels equipped with intelligent options, but is also available as a normal sliding system with three or four panels and fits perfectly for balconies, terraces and conservatories. Universally applicable concept for windows and doors.

iku®windows - the intelligent shading iku®windows - the intelligent shading – adds the product range of windows and facades and completes the program for the intelligent building skin.

Vertical System Simple operation by touch of a button or over Building Management systems (LON, EIB). Unlimited design flexibility means optimum individuality.

Horizontal System The system is simple and requires only little maintenance. This applies to the function real design as well as for shading panels which can be made of various materials. Aluminium, Glass or textiles offer high individuality.

iku®windows Cleanser The natural system cleanser for all glass and metal surfaces. iku®windows cleanser features strong geological action and, with its 1:100 mixture, is also very economical to use. It contains less than 2 % anionic an non ionic surfactants and has a ph of between around 3 and 6, depends on the level of water-hardness

General information on iku windows – the intelligent façade system ®

The following information gives a general overview of the possibilities presented by iku®windows – the intelligent façade. This information relates to all the main designs that are available: Unitized system, cover cap system, structural glazing system and spider system. The specific details for each design can be found in the relevant section. iku®windows – the intelligent façade – is a complete façade system with an integrated selfcleaning function. The wiper blends in visually without affecting the overall appearance. The system is directly connected to the water supply, with detergent being added to the water automatically via a mixer unit. Water and detergent are sprayed on to the façade at the touch of a button. Then the integrated wipers clean the façade automatically. Customised parameters can be set for how much water is sprayed on the façade, and for how long, and the frequency with which the wipers move over the façade can also be customised. The wipers are spring-mounted, with a flexible wiper within the fixed wiper, ensuring that the glass is always cleaned perfectly. Rain or moisture sensors can be used to trigger the cleaning process automatically. Currently, the maximum height for one wiper system is 60 m. If the building is higher, several systems can be installed on top of one another.

Functions •

Automatic cleaning of the glass façade at any time

At the press of a button • •

Keypad is on the façade Connection to central control systems (BMS)

Benefits Image • •

Clean buildings are a major image factor for every user today – especially when having glass curtain walls Architects should be able to offer newest technologies and convenience for users and distinguish themselves as problem solvers for the investor

Convenience • • • • • • •

User-friendly – at the touch of a button Cleaning anytime within short time Automatic self-cleaning – saves time and money Integrated into central control systems Automated cleaning is triggered by integral sensors (e.g. rain, moisture sensors) Rainwater can be used for cleaning cycle Cleaning technology is integrated in the curtain wall without disturbing architectural concept

Safety/Security • • • • • • • • •

Cleaning is risk-free, even in high façades Ideal for cleaning façades that are hard to access Glass can be changed from inside, without any risk with maintenance unit No glass breakages caused by conventional building maintenance units Independence from external cleaners Privacy and security for tenants No outside personnel looking into the building (espionage/break-ins) Evacuation of people in case of disaster By increasing the pressure of the water spraying, originally intended for cleaning only, the outside surface of the façade can be protected from fire and smog.

Cost effectiveness • • • • • • •

One-off investment. Soon pays for itself – value for money Low running costs are a major issue in buildings of the future The running costs exceed the first time investment costs of a building by far. So users will be interested to keep the running cost low, a building with low running costs can be sold much easier High frequency of cleaning without additional costs Added value for the building Low maintenance Constant cleaning possible of solar panels, which is necessary in order not to lose the efficiency in energy production. This will be a major benefit for the future, where alternative energy production and sustainable buildings are becoming a “Must have”

Electrical connections One motor unit is required for each wiper, with one wiper able to cover 1 – 3 areas of façade, depending on the façade design. The motors run on a 24 volt power supply and are controlled by an electronic unit. One electronic unit can control 4 wipers at a time. The electronic units are centrally located in a cabinet with the other building systems. The keypad can also be fitted externally. The size of the control cabinets depends on the requirements of the particular project. The wiring from the control cabinets to the motor unit uses standard cables, and the connection to the mains must be made by a qualified electrician.
