Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Parishioners, Many thanks for the generous responses to our many appeals for the Merciful Harvest. Last week's grocery bag drive was a huge success! (For the record, the 10:30am Mass broke the record for most bags sold.) Because we exceeded our goal of three hundred bags, we were able to purchase fresh foods and extra items to send home with our guest families. It's only Monday as I write to you, but the Merciful Harvest looks like it will be a huge success once again -- thanks to the parish family working together. This Saturday, the parish will welcome Father William Saunders, pastor of Our Lady of Hope Parish. Father will guide a morning of recollection for men of the parish. Father's theme is "Father of Mercy." This should be a wonderful way to close out the Jubilee Year of Mercy and get ready to enter into the Advent Season. The event is sponsored by the Saint Louis Martin Council of the Knights of Columbus here at Saint Theresa. A light breakfast and lunch are included. After 8:30am Mass, we will move to the cafeteria for Father's reflections. Opportunity for confessions will be made available. (Please register at: go/10c0c4caeab2bab58-mens1) Our ninth graders are nearing reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation. Most of their preparations are complete. Please do keep these young men and women in your prayers in the weeks ahead. Confirmation will be administered on Saturday, December 10, by our then newly-installed Bishop Burbidge. What a privilege for us to welcome the new bishop so soon after his installation on December 6.

May God bless you!

Opportunities to Help Families in Need I want to thank St. Theresa for a successful clothing drive last year. We were able to provide clothes and shoes to many impoverished villages in West Africa. The Catholic Woman’s Organization (CWO) in Africa has reached back out to us this year for more support. CWO is in need of more shoes and clothing to distribute to families in need. We will have a clothing drive the week of Monday November 14th through Sunday November 20th at St. Theresa. Again this year we will place two large

boxes outside the new wing and any donations of clothing and shoes will be accepted. We also need monetary donations to help with the cost of shipping items collected. Many of the children in these villages go without clothes or shoes, therefore anything we can provide would be a blessing. All sizes of clothes and shoes will be accepted. Thank you in advance for your support. Contact Rebecca McFarland at 703.789.3115 or [email protected]

Around the Diocese After the First Year… Coping with Loss After the loss of a loved one, often there is help from family and friends to get one through the first year of birthdays, anniversaries, the holidays, etc., to help share the loss. The next year comes, and often this support system hopefully feels that perhaps the “worst” is over. This can be a difficult period for many people.
